Alaska Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom Nancy Dahlstrom is the 15th Lieutenant Governor of the State of Alaska. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she came to Alaska from Utah after graduating from high school and has remained in the state, making Alaska her chosen home. Lt. Governor Dahlstrom is a former member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 18th District from the time of her appointment in 2003 through May 2010. She chaired the Economic Development, International Trade & Tourism Committee, co-chaired the Armed Services Committee and Resources Committee, and served as vice-chair of the Judiciary Committee, Legislative Budget and Audit Committee, and Legislative Council. In 2010 – 2014, she was appointed to various positions within Alaska Governor Sean Parnell’s administration including senior advisor for military affairs, and Anchorage Office Director. In 2018, she was elected to represent the 13th District in the state House but declined to be seated after accepting a position as commissioner of the Alaska Department of Corrections, where she served until May 2022. Her career experience includes working as a marketing and sales consultant and in public and regulatory affairs. Lt. Governor Dahlstrom earned an A.S. in Human Services in 1992 and a B.S. in Human Services/Business in 1994, both from Wayland Baptist University. She earned her master’s degree in Organization Management/Human Resources in 1997 from the University of La Verne. Lt. Governor Dahlstrom is committed to making Alaska one of the safest states in the U.S. and is passionate about reducing crime. Additional areas of focus are addressing energy security, food insecurity, and emergency preparedness. Her husband, four grown children, and eleven grandchildren drive her continued dedication to public service and success for Alaska.
