Lt. Governor Nancy Dahlstrom Announces Key Staff Members January 5, 2023 (Anchorage, AK) – Alaska Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom is pleased to announce the key members of her Anchorage-based staff, including Josh Applebee as Chief of Staff, Kelly Howell as Special Assistant, and Kim Griffith as the scheduler. Ms. Howell is the only new addition to the office of the Lt. Governor; Mr. Applebee and Ms. Griffith were hired under Lt. Governor Kevin Meyer. Ms. Howell, as Special Assistant, will provide staff assistance to the Lt. Governor and perform and oversee special and ongoing assignments of significance relative to the duties of the Office of the Lt. Governor. “As we enter a new term, I am grateful to have Kelly join our office,” said Lt. Governor Dahlstrom. “I have had the privilege of getting to know and work with Kelly over the years. I am confident our office will greatly benefit from her robust experience in the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Health.” A lifelong Alaskan, Ms. Howell was born in Fairbanks and is the daughter of a retired Alaska State Trooper, growing up in Fairbanks, Nome, and Anchorage. She began her state service in March 1996 with the Department of Health and Social Services and has spent the past 18 years working for the Department of Public Safety, where she held several different positions, including Administrative Services Director and, most recently, Legislative Liaison/Special Assistant to the Commissioner. Ms. Howell graduated from East Anchorage High School and has a bachelor’s degree in Justice and Psychology from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She and her husband live in Eagle River and have two grown children. They enjoy spending time together in the outdoors and at their cabin in Willow during their downtime.
